The editors of Kiwi Magazine have come out with a new allergy-friendly cookbook. I have to say the cookbook is gorgeous, the recipes are easy and fun with delicious, colourful pictures. My kids keep picking it up and looking at it.
Whether you have allergies or not, this is really a family must-have. The recipes are delicious and you would never know by their taste that something is "missing".
The cookbook starts with a foreword from Robyn O'Brien, author of The Unhealthy Truth and founder of the Allergy Kids Foundation. If you are not aware of her work, do your family a favour and check out her website. You are sure to be inspired to Do One Thing!!
One hundred and twenty recipes from breakfast, lunch, dinner to snacks and absolutely yummy desserts. You won't have to make something allergy-friendly for one child and something different for the rest of the family, the recipes are crowd pleasers :D
There is an excellent "Party" section; with fun delicious recipes that make sure kids with allergies are NOT left out of the party. Outstanding Golden Gluten-Free Cupcakes, with I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Buttercream Chocolate Cake!! (There are three different kinds of frosting recipes). Do not forget the Wholesome Vanilla Ice Cream and maybe add the Sunny Candy Pops!
Our favourites so far:
Carrot Cake Breakfast Cookies, Cool Zucchini Noodles, Greener Sloppy Joes (YUM), No Moo Chocolate Pudding and Mac-N-Cheeze!
I made the World's Simplest Soft Serve, cannot believe how easy it is and the kids loved helping. Just a little helpful suggestion though, BEFORE you freeze your bananas, take the peel OFF! Does everyone already know that? I apparently did not. Let me just say...you cannot take the peel off a frozen banana!
I also made the Spiced Carrot Fries. This is a new favourite as well! I threw in some parsnips with the carrots, the cumin spice made all the difference...can't wait to make them again! (this weekend)
On the sides of the pages there are coloured tabs to what allergens that specific recipe is free of; Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Nut-Free, Egg-Free and Soy-Free.
