Silly Mom, You Forgot The Processed Junk In Your Child's Lunch!?

Thank you for stopping by little island studios, please subscribe by email to follow along in family fun!

Oh, where to begin on this?  A school in Canada apparently rummages through kid's lunches and deems what is appropriate and what is not.  This mom sent left-over roast beef, carrots, milk and orange but, had clearly forgotten to add GMO Processed Ritz Crackers to her child's lunch.  Oh, the horror! (complete sarcasm implied).   There are multiple problems with this - it is NOT the schools business what Suzy Q's mommy packs for lunch.  Clearly the school knows absolutely nothing of real health anyway (they still think ketchup is a veggie) and has "provided" (forced) the child(ren) with processed food containing multiple GMO ingredients.  What if the family is Paleo?  Personally, we are a NON-GMO family and I find this wildly offensive.  And they charged mom an outrageous fee.  A little kick back with the cracker company?

Here are the Ritz Crackers ingredients, now which exactly which ingredient is healthy? I'm confused.

Unbleached Enriched Flour (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate {Vitamin B1}, Riboflavin {Vitamin B2}, Folic Acid), Soybean Oil, Sugar, Partially Hydrogenated Cottonseed Oil, Salt, Leavening (Calcium Phosphate And/Or Baking Soda), High Fructose Corn Syrup, Soy Lecithin, Malted Barley Flour, Natural Flavor. Contains: Wheat, Soy

If you are not in Canada and sighing with relief - do you really think this is far off in our schools?  It is not and whether you think Ritz Crackers are awesome or not, this is about parents being allowed to be parents and parent choice.  Your Child, Your Choice!

This also begs the question - What kind of set up does Big Food have with our Schools and Government?  If the health was really a concern, Big Food would not be able to poison our food system with Cancer cause pesticides, untested GMOs and other nasties rampant in main stream food.

If it was really about health - perhaps classes (not forced) offered for real food Food Education?  How about start a school garden?

If you are new to real food and health - have your kids join you in Food Education!  Cook together, talk about where real food is from, how it grows and the health benefits of real food!

I was recently in the hospital with my kid and the nurses were so very kind and gave child a Popsicle.  However, the Popsicle was full of high-fructose corn syrup (GMO) and synthetic fake food coloring.  So, clearly we have our work cut out for us educating ourselves as a country.  (America and Canada)

I first saw this article here and pinned to multiple boards on Pinterest, where is it has moms commenting and getting involved.

This is insane on so many levels! What if the kid doesn't eat meat? Are they counting the potato as a vegetable? Shouldn't it be one protein and one starch, maybe? What about people who can't have enriched flour? Wheat? Holy crud. I'm sure this nonsense will be coming to America soon!

I agree! Moms, must stay on top of this...no one else does. Lunch patrol going through lunches? Absolutely vile and unacceptable! And Ritz Crackers? Really? Thanks for reading and commenting :D
